RIP Estelle Getty

Today is a very sad day for any gay man alive in the 80s. Estelle Getty has left us after a long illness.

Sophia Petrillo is and will always be one of the most hilarious characters created for a television sitcom and no one could have done it better than Estelle.

We will miss you Estelle!

Alive

Oh yes, I'm still alive. I know it has been a ridiculous amount of time since I last posted here. The last year or so has been fairly hectic for Carrie and so I'll try to sum it up briefly here:

*Carrie decided that it was time to follow a dream. A year ago, she set out to see if she could get into law school. And she did. What she did not realize was that it would be in another city. So in about a month, Carrie will be leaving DC and heading to Beantown for law school. GO RED SOX! or whatever. This also means Carrie has resigned from her current job, which I have to tell you, was probably the most incredibly exciting part of this whole venture. While I still have a few weeks of work left, I assure you they will not be the most productive weeks of my career.

*Carrie turned 30. Yes, I realize the header here says the musings of a twenty-something gay guy, but unfortunately I did not create the header and have absolutely no idea how to fix it. Besides, I have not really accepted that I'm a thirty-something gay guy...so I guess it works out.

*The new SATC movie came out. It was good. I looked fabulous. That's all that needs to be said.

*Ummmm, yeah sadly that is about all that has been going on. I'm still single, though lately it has been much more by choice than natural selection since I know I am leaving and have not even made any effort to change the relationship status on my Facebook page. I think I've made my way through the DC talent...let's hope that Boston has something to offer.

I hope you are all well! I may try to keep this up, but chances are come September, I won't have much time. Just know I'm still alive and looking fabulous as always!

The Charade Continues...

I know I had told him it was over, that if he insisted on keeping up this charade with that tramp, then I could not longer allow myself to be strung along. But I keep forgiving and letting him back into my life.

Here is our most recent text conversation:

Jakey: Baby, why don't you talk to me? You know I love you.

CB: I love you too, but I cannot go on like this.

Jakey: I have told you time and again that this is for publicity. It means nothing.

CB: Does SHE know that? Because she seems to be staking quite the claim on you!

Jakey: Baby, if you can't fix it, you gotta stand it.

CB: I know, oh, wait...that is from Brokeback Mountain! Don't try using lines on me! You tell me you love me, you fly me to see you in secret. I have to pretend it is over between us and it's killing me. I wish I knew how to quit you.

Jakey: I love you baby, just remember that.

F U Chris Matthews

Chris Matthews used to be one of my favorite political pundits, but I cannot stand him any more. For some reason he has a real bug up his ass about Hillary Clinton's candidacy and will not let up on her. He had this to say after her amazing win last night in New Hampshire:

Are you for real? Is anyone here from New York? Did you vote for her? Is THAT why you voted for her? If I was a New Yorker, I'd tell him to sit and spin. Go ahead Chris, keep beating up on her. We saw what happened when the media thought they smelled blood in the water and went after her after Iowa. I can only hope you keep this up.

Oh and in case you weren't sure, Carrie B is a Hillary girl all the way! I'll be doing whatever I can to make sure that tough broad is in the White House next year.

Happy Birthday, Lover

Happy Birthday to my one and only...

Yes, I came out of hiding long enough to wish my boo a Happy Birthday. I know he's hurt me in the past with this faux Reese relationship drama, but I still love him nonetheless.

Taxi Driver Strike!

So I have heard rumblings that DC is moving to metered cab fares rather than the current confusing zone system. I am not entirely sure how beneficial this will be to me since I travel exclusively in one zone 90% of the time and really have no idea if this will be cheaper for me. Either way the cab drivers are hot with this idea and are planning to strike on October 31st. Of all days! Now how will all the drag queens get home that night? Rude.

In any case, I have decided that the DC Taxi Commission needs to take a lesson from NYC. What we need: Meters, Credit Card Machines (because who carries cash), lights on top of the cab that work, bitches that drive fast and Bernadette Peters telling me to buckle the fuck up.

Until then, I have no sympathy for the cab drivers in this city.
